Why the stretch rod damages the mold bottom

One of the buyer contacted us recently and told us about his confusion about the stretch rod on the semi automatic blow moulding machine. 
When he replaced the mould, and replacing is by a different size bottle mold, the stretch rod dropped suddenly almost in a flash. 
Thw old one is a big mould for 18.9 liter, and the new fixed mould is for 15 liter bottles. 

The internal bottom of the 15 liter bottle mould was impacted by the stretch rod, and there is a small concave spot on the bottom, and it may affect the bottle shape after blow molding. 

The problem is that he forgot to reduce the pressure inside the stretch cylinder after removing the 18.9 liter bottle mold. 
and, the length of the stretch rod is still for the depth of the 18.9 liter bottle, which means the length of the stretch rod is longer than the depth of the 15 liter water bottle.
When the rod drove by the high pressure stretch cylinder, then the rod dropped suddenly and quick  very fast, and impact the mould bottom. 

Luckily, There is no big problem for the bottom, and the cylinder is still working well. 


So, I think we need to remind the buyers for one important thing. 
Please reduce the air pressure by release the pressure air before adjusting the stretch rod for a new mould.
That will keep the workers safe, and protect the moulds at the same time.
