Problem No. 3 : Crooked bottle neck
Symptom: Usually, the bottle neck crooked or twisted to one side. And the rings below the neck screw out of shape too. The bottle neck is not straight with the bottle central core. This kind of bottles are not good for filling and capping.
Causes:
l .Mechanical problem.
l. Molds temperature too high.
l .Cooling water flow is not enough.
l .Temperature of the two sides mold are not the same.
l .Preforms neck too thick.
Solutions:
l .Preform neck is too tight inside the mold. It needs a little space.
l .Check the cooling water flow quantity. If the cooling water is not enough, then the mold temperature will be high, and the temperature of the two sides are not the same. So, when the bottle is under blowing, the shrink-difference from the two molds side will cause this.
l .Blowing cylinder is not in the central of the neck.
l .If the preform neck is too thick, then you need more temperature in that part, and increase the temperature for the neck part.
Problem No. 4 : Broken bottle bottom
Symptom: there will always be a small crack at the bottom and close to the plastic-inlet position at the preform bottom.
Causes:
l .Mechanical problem.
l .Temperature for the preforms bottom part is not enough. Especially for the flatter bottom bottles. This kind of situation may happen more than other kinds of bottle design.
Solutions:
l .Check the space between the stretch stick and the mold bottom. Normally it is 2/3 of the thickness of the preform bottom.
l .Increase the temperature for the preform bottom part or get more heating lamps for that area.If the temperature is too low, then the preforms will not be heated well, then when the preform is under stretch toward the mold bottom, then there will be crack appear on the bottle bottom. While the temperature for the bottom part can not be too high either, which will cause the bottom protruding.
