Simple theory on PET bottle blow molding machinery

General:
In the market and stores, we can see that almost all water bottles are made of PET clear plastic. 
The normal size bottles we can see are 500ml, 1000ml, 1500ml, 2000ml, 5 liter, 12 liter and 20 liters.

PET bottles are made of PET preforms, which  are called by plastic tubes by some customers in some countries.
Here are some pictures as following:


This kind of big blue plastic tube/preform is used for gallon bottles. normally 3/4/5 gallon water bottles. Normally, we use 700-750g preforms for 5gallon water bottles, and 650g for 4 gallon bottles, and 450g for 3 gallon bottles. 

And also, we have small plastic tubes, known as small bottle preforms
This kind of small clear and light blue color platic tubes/preforms are used for making small size bottles like 500ml, 1000ml, 1500ml, 2000ml.
Different weight preforms are used for different volume bottles.  Normally, we use 18-21g preforms for 500ml bottles, and 28g preforms for 1000ml bottles, 32g preforms for1500ml bottles, and 38g-42g preforms for 2000ml bottles.


Then, the PET bottle blow molding machine. 
It is designed for making bottles from PET bottles from PET preforms.
At first, the preforms will be heated by high temperaure heating lamps, to make it soft and flexible.
Second, the heated preforms will be put into the bottle mold. Then, the blowing cylinder seals the mold neck, and blow the heated preforms by high pressure air, which is 30bar or 40bar.
Third, mold open, and you will get the bottles.
